Spirit-filled believers are always talking about how the glory of God will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea.
Okay... So here we are waiting around for this day to happen. Anticipation builds as our Spirit-filled congregations quietly await a future affirmation.
The problem with this popular teaching is that it is not what Scripture actually says. Look at the originating text with me for a moment:
"For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea." (Habakkuk 2:14)
The scripture doesn't say the glory will one day fill the earth. It says that one day the knowledge of the glory will cover the whole earth.
This text is suggesting a truly radical idea: The glory of God already covers the earth.
Just one day the knowledge of it will finally be everywhere.
If the glory is already subtly at work all over the planet, how does that change things for you? Might you feel the need to pray a little differently? Might you be ready to attack sickness and disease?
Maybe you are pushing back against this idea. That's okay, someday the knowledge of this truth will finally become clear to you and everybody else.

That is excellent... right on. Let's live in the glory now!
