"Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people." (Matthew 4:23)
A lot of people enjoy talking about effective models of ministry. How are we supposed to function as Spirit-led leaders? What is the appropriate approach? This is the kind of talk that often takes place at conferences and in numerous after-service conversations.
While no one can truly provide a definitive answer, there are some effective models that can be gained from the pages of Scripture - if you know where to look.
In particular, I have been recently struck with a model that is demonstrated in Matthew 4:23. In this particular passage, Jesus fleshes out an excellent three-fold model of ministry.
As He moved forth, He taught, He preached, and He healed.
It was a total package deal for Him. He brought all of these elements together for maximum ministerial impact.
While there are a lot of other things that should be considered, I think that this is an effective model of ministry for us to embrace in the present-day environment.
